Nick is an attorney with over 30 years of professional experience working on complex litigation, regulatory, compliance and financial crimes matters. He has worked as a US Government enforcement attorney, in house counsel, chief compliance officer and BSA/AML officer. He is an experienced and versatile senior leader with a strong work ethic and an ability to solve problems, lead people and build consensus.
Nick is a recognized expert on BSA/AML and financial crimes matters. He served as the Merrill Lynch Europe AML Officer in the 1990’s and participated in drafting the first UK AML Banking Guidance. He was the Merrill Lynch Global Head of AML on September 11, 2001 and led Merrill Lynch through the implementation of the PATRIOT Act. Nick joined Wachovia Bank in 2004 as the head of retail brokerage compliance and it’s AML Officer. He has been a senior leader in the Wells Fargo Financial Crimes Risk Management team since 2012 and is the current Deputy BSA Officer and the Director of Governance for Financial Crimes Risk Management.
It has been almost a year since the Beneficial Ownership rule took effect. What have been the challenges in its implementation? What questions remain? Has it really brought transparency?
